My
family and I have resided in the Peaks since 2001. We raised both of
our children in the neighbourhood and feel so fortunate to have done
so.
My
career does require that I commute to Calgary for work but I enjoy
every minute in the mountains. With children very involved in
activities I have spent many years volunteering for the Canmore
Biathlon Club through Canmore Nordic Ski Club.
The
Peaks of Grassi is a very special neighbourhood in the Town of Canmore
and I would be very privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of
the new community association and work with the residents and town to
preserve and enhance it.

Resident and owner of 1040 Lawrence Grassi Ridge since 2001.
I was born and educated in Edmonton and am a U of A Chem. Eng. graduate.
We’ve
lived in Edmonton, Sarnia, Calgary, Houston, Athens (Greece) and
Canmore. We currently also have a home in Houston where our children
live.
I’m
still semi active in, and a part owner of, a company that does LPG
commercialization and gas processing projects in Africa and the Middle
East.
We have two children and 5 grandchildren who all love Canmore and in particular the Peaks of Grassi, Quarry Lake area.
My wife Kathy and I are both founding directors of POGA.

Professionally,
I am the Executive Director of the C17 Council, a national research
and education-focused non-profit network of all the children’s cancer
centres in Canada that is based in Edmonton. I am currently also a
member of the Belgravia Hall Redevelopment Committee, a sub-committee
of our local community league that has been fundraising and grant
writing for 3 years to renovate and redevelop our community hall.
Acting as the financial lead for the committee, we are about to start
construction on this $1.4M project. I am a former president of our local
playschool, previous member of the Edmonton Nordic Ski Club executive
and active in community-based initiatives and activities. I have been a
part of several political and social issues related to community
development and how they impact quality of life in our communities.
Personally,
I prefer to spend as much time as possible at our house that we built
in 2001 on Lawrence Grassi Ridge in Canmore. My experience in Canmore,
however, predates PoG, as we have 4 children who competed on the
provincial, national and international biathlon scene starting in 1994.
I have a strong history of volunteering at the Canmore Nordic Centre,
acting as an official, coach and chaperone for various biathlon events
for over 15 years. As young adults, all four of our children have lived
in Canmore for various periods of time, including working in the
service industry in Canmore.
The
strengths I bring to POGA are an ability to network and collaborate
with others. I have a good understanding of the community challenges
and opportunities that are facing Canmore, and have the added
perspective of being involved with community development in another
community in Alberta. I have experience in leadership in a diverse
environment with many different sets of priorities and perspectives
that would help develop POGA as a leading community group in Canmore.

Former home-owner, current resident still, and for the last sixteen years, of the Peaks of Grassi. I have resided in the valley since 1985, am a former member of the Banff Fire Department and Banff EMS, and have owned and operated Lifeskill Rescue Services Ltd. since 1991.
Apart from my business experience, I have also sat on other Boards in the past, and have worked with various volunteer groups, including the Bow Valley Victim Services Association and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association. I hope that we can find a way through POGA to engage the Town of Canmore with issues that are of immediate concern to residents of this community.
